The Pursuit of Happyness

  • Signal to Noise

    philosophy

More than twenty years ago, Peter Gabriel wrote a song that quietly predicted the world we live in today. A world where information never stops, and truth becomes much harder to recognize. Signal to Noise was written before social media, before algorithmic manipulation, before digital propaganda. What begins as a reflection on music slowly turns into a deeper question: what is truth today?

  • Summing up 2025

    life

The Mood of the Year Since it has already become something of a tradition, the photo of the year was taken with a drone. For me, it reflects the mood of the entire year. This year feels like one long autumn. A slow, beautiful sunset of an industry after decades of intense and crazy growth. […]

  • What if fun is the real engine of innovation?

    life

Back in May 1994, on the final day of classes at MIT, students pulled off one of the most legendary pranks in history.

At sunrise, people walking across campus looked up, and there it was: a full-size police car parked perfectly on top of the iconic Great Dome. Inside the car sat a dummy “officer” equipped with a toy disc gun and a box of donuts, fuzzy dice dangling from the mirror, and a ticket citing the car for parking “without a permit for this location.” The car had the license plate “IHTFP”, and sported a sign: “I break for donuts.”

  • Is there life at the pole?

    life

To make a post stand out, it should have a picture. So here are three small pieces of metal I want to show you. All you need to get one is to pay the entry fee for a marathon and keep pedalling until you reach the finish line. It sounds easy, and I know people […]

  • Agile Anticonference

    agile, life

Over the final weekend of the Polish summer, the Agile Poznań community gathered for its third annual anticonference, and what a gathering it was. I’ve had the privilege of attending every edition, and each one has surprised me in new and positive ways. This event brings together ambitious thinkers, insightful speakers, and engaged listeners. The […]

  • How to Know When Your Project Will Be Done

    agile

I think project management can be compared to flying an airplane: there are many external and internal factors, all of them important and constantly changing, and each one must be taken into account. To quickly analyze the situation and make the right decisions, you need good tools and skills. Today, I want to share one such tool for project managers.

  • Why do business and technical people speak different languages?

    programming

It’s not uncommon to hear that programmers are “hard to communicate with,” “introverted,” or even described as “paranoid” or “autistic.” While I haven’t found definitive scientific research on how years of programming affect a person’s psychology and behavior, I guess I know what is going on.

  • Korba Poznańska 2025 – post-race impressions

    life

Still running on post-race adrenaline, I wanted to share some impressions from yesterday’s Korba Poznańska marathon, a one-day gravel race covering 180 km around Poznań, mostly off-road and over fairly flat terrain. I have to admit, I’ve always been pretty far from the world of sports, so this has all been a brand-new experience for […]

  • A Year in Review: 2024

    2024 Summary

    links

When I think about this year, not many things come to mind. Besides some trips and definitely more cycling, running, and hiking, the highlight was probably my parents’ visit and spending a few weeks together. That was fun! Nothing has changed about my dreams: peace for Ukraine is all I want for the coming year.

  • Eric Schmidt's speech

Eric Schmidt’s speech at Stanford ECON295⧸CS323 at April 2024

    links

It’s not often that you get to hear what people with such experience and horizons think about the future of both the industry and us as a human community. A recording of the speech appeared somewhere in Internet recently, and for those who are interested here is the full transcription of it. Highly recommend to review. I will just summarise a few main ideas and his vision.
